In Michael Rubinkam’s “Fans roar as Phillies parade through city” what matters is the World Champion Philadelphia Phillies marched down Broad St., in south Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to celebrate their World Series Championship. Fans gathered on the sidewalks and on roofs of apartment buildings to watch this exhilarating parade through the city. This parade has been the first parade for a major championship since 1983, when the Philadelphia 76ers won the NBA championship. Pat Burrell the Philadelphia Phillies left-fielder, and free agent to be, rode through the parade on a horse-drawn carriage, behind him came a bus full of Phillies players and the Phanatic. Jamie Moyer, Pitcher, said “I was at the parade in 1980 and that was pretty exciting, but today tops it by far." The Parade was defiantly one of the biggest and energetic parade in Philadelphia history. Charlie Manuel, Manager, said “This is the biggest parade I’ve ever been in.” The parade was so vigorous, that police had trouble keeping it under control. What matters in Michael Rubinkam’s “Fans roar as Phillies parade through city” is the Philadelphia Phillies celebrate there first major championship in 25 years.
