Coffman sued over voter purge
Anthony F.
In Annette Espinoza’s story “Coffman sued voter purge” it states that Advancement Project has publicly announced that they are going to sue Colorado Secretary of State Mike Coffman for illegal purging of voter rolls. Mi familia vota and Service Employees International Union claimed that Coffman’s actions resulted in thousands of people being wrongly disfranchised. Pendra Hair, co-director of Advancement Project says “These purge programs violate federal law that is intended to project eligible voters from being swept off the rolls. We felt that filing this actions was the only way we could ensure that thousands of Colorado residents would not show up at the polls on Election Day only to find they could not participate in this historic national election. The Advancement Project was only protecting those unaware citizens, from Coffman’s purge. The lawsuit is hoping to protect any more legible voters from being purged onto the eligible voter list. All in all the Advancement Project is working to protect the voters who have been purged by Colorado Secretary of State Mike Coffman.
